'Tis the season, I suppose

I hate this time of year. Hate the grotesque and shameless commercialization, hate the superficial lip service to spirituality, hate the fleetingness of camaraderie, hate the dilution of the holiday so that it now fills one-sixth of the calendar year.

But occasionally, something lessens it, if only momentarily.
