sigma7: Sims (broken)

Two questions, related

1. Anyone ever have any problem with Maxell DVD+R media before?

2. Anybody want a spindle and half of Maxell DVD+R media (~20)? Maybe they'll work for you, but I've gone back to the Memorex after coastering all weekend and losing ~4 GB of data. Insert string of colorful, evocative profanities here. Note that these media were working just fine before this weekend -- I have one catalogued, even, but now, to my drive, it's just unreadable. And yet the Memorex still work.

And two links, related, but not to the former two.

First, the 2005 Lego Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith tie-ins. Nothing horribly surprising. Oooh, a Vader with a light-up lightsaber. Meh. Nice effort on the Darth Vader Transformation and for letting Mace Windu finally get a minifig.

Also, someone's got a very impressive of home-grown comic-based minifigs. Finally J'onn J'onnz in Lego-form. And there's something just odd about Braniac 5, but I'm not complaining. Unless you get me started on the topic of watermarking, in which case, mumble mumble.

'Fraid I think David Oakes Lego customizations are more impressive. I mean, the man's made Lego versions of Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Grant Morrison as well as a larger selection of characters.

Concurred -- though I think it was Kosh that did it for me.

Pity Dennis Chidley's raytraced superhero minifigs are no longer floating about anywhere -- they were extremely well done.

It's the smile. Has to be the smile.

Sorry the DVDs are still giving you trouble. At this point, I would have thrown something... probably pieces of the computer... I hope you can get it working just to ease your sanity and not because I want to see Lost so very, very much.

Actually, I think the problem's confined to the Maxell media, which is good in that the rest of the DVD work's going to go verrrry smoothly now that I know what's wrong. DVDs 1 and 3 are done done done and 2's underway now. I just now have some DVDs I don't feel comfortable using except as coasters. Grrr.

But I think I'll get 2 done tonight, which is good news, yes? Yes.

Verrah good news! DVDs make terrific coasters... oooh, or you could make some shiny wall collage artwork... Or.... um.... frisbee golf?

Mmmm... coasters!

Aw! Wouldn't the babies have fun playing with pretty coasters? Can't you just see Tiny hopping up and down on them and Moosie tugging them around to one of the caves?

...And Muffin cowering in fear everytime he sees one? No, really, I forget that he's terrified of them until I innocently pop one out of the drive and see him stretched into bowling-pin shape and hissing before he turns tail and scampers up my arm and behind my head....

And yet while I say that now, he's poofed out on one foot curled up against my head. He's a good wee pig.
