A quick query, any/all input eagerly sought.

How do you deal with news sites that require free registration (i.e. New York Times, Washington Post, etc.)? Do you not visit or read them or do you go to other sites with the same information? If you do visit/read them, do you even give them valid information?

I register, but I register with the one email address I have designated solely for junk mail... of course, after I registered, I forgot my username and/or password, so most of the time I have to register again... so my answer is, yes I visit/read them, but the information isn't quite valid.

I will go out of my way not to register anywhere. If I can get the same news elsewhere, I will absolutely do that. When I can't get the same information somewhere else, I give a spam email addy. And I curse them.

I do hate registering. I'm with Kauri on this one... if I can get the info elsewhere without registering, I will.

And when I do register, I use completely false info.

I'm signed up with correct information for the New York Times, back from ages and ages ago.

For everyone else I use the news.google.com runaround -- assuming what I want to see is recent -- or bugmenot.com.

If I can find the information elsewhere, I do. If it's something I absolutely have to read and I can only get it from that source, I fudge my information.

I like my anonymity.
