I think I'm paranoid

So on the way home last night I see a white van parked on the Interstate, not on the shoulder, but on one of those paved u-turn paths in the median. This worries me, for no explicable reason. It was about a mile before the only rest stop on the route, which sits happily elevated from the I-state, and for some reason, of all the myriad possibilities, innocuous and malicious, the only possibility that leaps into my mind is that it's a spotter van. It's watching, waiting for something or someone. And then I think, yes, it's probably a spotter for a sniper team at the rest stop, yes, that's it, 'cause that's a perfect spot to snipe from.

And not five seconds after thinking that, the car hits the biggest bug in the history of bugs -- POP -- dead in the center of the driver's side of the windshield.

I did jump a bit.

Perhaps, just a bit...

I saw the same van, and I do recall thinking, hmmm silly place for a van... but no thoughts of snipers... ;-)

Yeah, well, that's the thin line of sanity separating you and me.

Wow, that would have freaked me out too. I'm glad you didn't go all heart-y or something. Was it a June bug? I've seen some big nasty ones lately. Hoping the skink likes June bugs. :)

Glad you didn't get sniped.

I have no idea what it was. Realize that all that's left is more or less two-dimensional now, and short of a DNA test, we'll never know. Least it wasn't a deer.

Maybe that's why I wasn't worried about snipers... I was more worried about suicidal deer....
