Fire in the disco, fire in the Taco Bell

Just stopped by the Taco Bell in the Union and the very-overworked guy -- the only guy there -- said that the entire staff'd been fired today and he was treading water until his manager found someone to help him.

So I really can't complain about my day. Not sure who I feel worse for, the people who got canned or the last man standing. (At least none of us are this guy.)

Now you need to YouTube the video and share the pain with everyone in earshot.

Luckily, I have it on my iPod, and I have speakers here...

And here I was, about to say how much I liked that song...

But speaking from somebody in the restaurant business - though an actual sit-down one, in my case - feel bad for the guys who got fired. Sure the lone guy has a major hate-on right now, but because he's the only guy left he can probably make [and get] some demands re: his pay rate.

The guys that got shit-canned however... Yeah, this is a bad time of year to be unemployed. At least in Banff. Granted, there's no real good time to be unemployed, but nobody's really hiring right now, nor will they be for another couple months.

It's on my latest driving CD. It's catchy, though, and you just can't shake it for the rest of the day....

The downstairs people have theories as to the firings, but nothing concrete -- am keeping my ear to the ground. And yeah, the timing is impeccable, coming during finals week and I don't know what their summer operations look like but you can't imagine they'd be even half-stocked for the trickle of students left on campus for summer....
