I think it's safe to say she lost

LAWRENCE, Kan. - A teenager found hanging from a dresser drawer with a coated bicycle chain lock around her neck apparently died while playing the "pass-out game," the girl's parents said.

Kimberly Wilson, a 15-year-old student at Veritas Christian School in Lawrence, died last week.

Her parents, Tim and Carol Wilson, began discussing the details of her death Monday because they wanted other parents to be aware of the dangers of playing the choking game, which cuts off the oxygen supply to the brain. Those who play achieve a type of "high," they said.

...The game has been in the news in recent weeks. Just last month, a 10-year-old Idaho boy was found dead, hanging from a tree. Authorities said he apparently died while trying to get high by playing the choking game. The case was similar to that three months ago in the Idaho town of Nampa, where 13-year-old Chelsea Dunn was found dead after apparently hanging herself in her closet.

...What's wrong with drinking like everyone else in high school? Try something safer. Like smoking.

It's not just Kansas. Apparently it is happening all over.

I'm sure publicizing it is really helping, too. Since that really discourages teens from doing dumb things.

I can't even remember what dumb things I did at that age. Self-strangulation was not one of them, oddly enough.

I was reminiscing the other day about all the stuff I did in high school.... So much of it didn't draw a second glance, and in this day and age, I'd be expelled, behind bars, in a padded room, some combination thereof. But nothing this stupid.

Bwa!

Me too. They would have been watching me, post-Columbine. As it was people were always terribly nice to me after we had a self-esteem or anti-suicide presentation. :)

So they've finally found something to call it they can use in a newspaper, eh?

The passing-out game, huh? AKA Auto-erotic Asphyxiation?

Or maybe the parents really don't know. But I bet you a nickle the kids darn well do.

It's sad that the cure for this is NOT a cleaned up name and more watchfulness from parents.

The cure is making sure kids know that if you screw up the game and die, Everyone Will Know you killed yourself masturbating.

But what are the chances of getting THAT kind of info publicized?

What they need to do is teach safe "choking game" in school

Run about a mile. Immediately after the run, in an area that has plenty of floor padding, squat for 15 to 30 seconds. Hold your breath, cross your arms across your chest, stand up, and lock your knees. You'll pass out without having to worry about that whole blocked airway issue.

Teach that to kids and if nothing else at least they're getting exercise.

There's another way but as I was typing it it sounded too much like the lead in to a porno.

... And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Darwinism at work.
