Wichita police are conducting an internal investigation into an incident last week in which an officer yanked a woman from a car being driven erratically.
Police first suspected the woman of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. But it turns out she was having a diabetic attack, Deputy Police Chief Tom Stolz said Monday.
The 30-year-old Wichita woman suffered a broken arm, a large bump on her head and blackened eyes, Stolz said.
Police are trying to determine whether her injuries came from officers or from her car striking trees and running into yards, he said.
Dude. I've seen the video, and while I can't find a link to it here, given the gusto with which she was yanked out and tossed to the ground, there's no question. I'll see if I can't find it....

On the other - if her blood sugar was that out of control that she was Hitting Trees With HER CAR, she shouldn't have been behind the damn wheel. Yes, low blood sugar can effect you like intoxication. And if you are diabetic, you know the signs. So why the fuck was she driving?
I've been places when my blood sugar went going wonky and I called a taxi. And I'm an irresponsible asshat when it comes to my health.
Not only could she have killed herself, she was endangering others. And that is not kosher.
Sorry. Apparently, that's a pet peeve of mine, that I wasn't aware I had.
