A former Palmer man reportedly escaped serious injury when he was apparently overpowered by thieves who tied him up, cut off the small finger of his left hand and took about more than 150 head of hogs from a rural Herington farm early Monday morning, according to information received here.

Aaron Ohlde, 41, son of Norbert and Marilyn Ohlde of Greenleaf, told officers he was attacked from behind by individuals between two and three in the morning after he saw lights in a nursery shed on the hog operation owned by Ron Roth family members from Clay County.
