Paramount has pulled the plug on its proposed film version of Watchmen, Alan Moore's celebrated superhero graphic novel, Variety reported. Producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin were taking the project, with British director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) attached, out to other studios, the trade paper reported.

I'm not against the idea of a Watchmen movie. But I'm pretty confident that the world would be better off waiting for further advances in computerized special effects. This isn't a movie that needs to come out any particular time.

Well, if they're going to make it, I'd really rather they made this script -- its ending isn't exactly like the book, but it doesn't cop out, either. As a matter of fact, it might be a distinct improvement given the text-to-screen adaptation. (Hint: no mutant squid.)

Looking for an old friend...

Wondering if I know you...
Wondering if you'd remember me...
Don't know if you screen this...
Ask me if you're curious...

*HUGS* if it's you...

I have no idea. Of course, I've been boppin' about online via this nick for, oh, ~20 years or so, so it could be.... Where from?

(You'll have to forgive my memory -- I have huge gaps in it, I'm 'fraid.)

Re: Looking for an old friend...

hmm... i still don't know if you want me to use your real name... some people don't...

did you ever break a girl's finger in a pillow fight while watching The Wall?
and would you still want to talk to that girl?

I grew up in KS...

Ah, yes, and because there was no ice in the house, we used meat. And so began my lifelong tendency to use meat to solve every problem. It has served me well, meat.

And forget breaking your finger? Hey, I mention it whenever I can. I think I put it in my resume. Which might explain the few interviews I get.

Good to see you're alive and well. Wassup?

And yeah, I do tend to obscure my "real" "identity," even though the resourceful and determined would be able to ferret it out -- I just don't want to make it too easy for anyone. Identity is fragile; wouldn't want mine to break again....

Re: Looking for an old friend...

Ha. I'm something of a pagan god of insomnia now. It takes a pretty hearty dose of meds to get me asleep for any length of time. But good idea to look for me. Yeah, this name never changes. Nice to know there's some constancy to the universe.

Sadly, I'm not nearly as mobile and flexible as I once was, else I'd be leaping out to Mizzou; this weekend = teh_bad. Also, the checking account = teh_worse. You know how it goes. But I'm rarely far away from my base of operations anymore. Been in the same city since '92 -- I'm getting predictable, finally.

Give my best to your li'l sis. I was a wretched correspondent when she hunted me down. I'm like that.

And speaking of old homies, you might just be surprised. No, actually, I'd wager shocked.

Re: Looking for an old friend...

I'll be there the 11th through the 18th... I'm not sure about my mobility... my ex might be able to drive me around or any number of friends... i would like to get to Manhattan at least while i'm there, but who knows at this point...
Hmm... shocked about the old homies??

Try emailing me at Tigerslili@gmail.com if you want to talk more privately... I can get into that at work... or in the evenings (well, after 4 p.m. mountain time - did I mention I'm in Montana?) you can get me on Yahoo Msgr as Tigerslili...
