This might be one of those moments that doesn't translate well to prose, but here's to trying.
Went out to lunch with
beeform,
kauricat, her fiancé and her mom (who's one of the most delightful people in the universe). The NBA playoffs were on the multiple TVs up front, but we sat in the back. On the way out, I noticed that the TV sets were airing a commercial for a local car dealership, and noted, "Well, they're selling cars, so it's close," or words to that effect, echoing my recent commercial. This prompted a little discussion, as Kauri and Krew had yet to see the commercial in question. And as I was looking at the TV, the next commercial it aired was, well, mine. "Oh, there it is now," I observed quietly.
I wasn't quite ready for its enthusiastic reception. I'm not sure whether to categorize Kauri's reaction as more of a "howl" or possibly a "honk," but it was certainly animated. Now everybody who was at Applebee's this afternoon knows who the tired-looking-guy in the commercial is.
Very odd. But a good capper on a happy steak-n-shrimp lunch. Mmm. Nummy.
