Turns out initial estimates were conservative -- the tornado that leveled Greensburg was about three times larger than originally thought, so you're looking at an over mile-and-a-half wide tornado bearing down on the town, wiping out 90-95 percent of it. (Check out the radar image.) And its winds were estimated to be over 205 miles an hour, so you're looking at the first EF5 tornado using the new Enhanced Fujita Scale.

The fun's not over -- the forecast calls for more of the same, straight through 'til Saturday. And there's already localized flooding over a good chunk of the state. Eh. It's always something.

Edit: Cow-orker who lives 20 miles from Greensburg has tracked down her high-school best friend not by using the Red Cross survivor list but by Google; apparently said friend has been giving TV interviews since.

And iTunes is approaching this with all due humor, treating me to Tori Amos's version of "I Don't Like Mondays" followed by Bob Dylan's "Shelter From the Storm."
