Sounds like most places in Kansas should have power back by Christmas, but not much sooner. Still 13,000 people without power in Riley County, and that number didn't appreciably fluctuate at all yesterday. (Current count has it down to 12,113, which ain't great, but it's still a thousand people better than it was all of yesterday.) Power fluttered last night and I got a bit...worried.

News from the farm is that they'll be off the grid for the foreseeable future; between the farm and the highway, a five mile stretch, there's 19 utility poles down. That may take a while.

Tomorrow, snow showers; the Weather Channel calls it a "snowy fun day," but I think having electricity is implied in the invocation of "fun."

In a news story Friday ("Spectrum holds Condom Olympics to educate on safe sex," page 3), it was incorrectly stated due to a reporting error that health and wellness educator Beth Grampetro and Tim Hegan, an ORL area director, said Fruit Roll-Ups are adequate protection against STDs. No health officials said or advocated this use at the Condom Olympics. The Daily Free Press apologizes for the confusion.
