Most tickets reduced to defective-equipment pleas were for speeding, roughly 21,000 tickets.
But defective-equipment charges issued for vehicles that actually had broken or improperly working equipment were filed only 54 times. That means that only .00169 percent of the defective-equipment pleas in the Municipal Court last year were based on fact.
Still not as bad as the space shuttle travelling at 18 times the speed of light, but....
