Aw, man, I'm only just getting into this one. Does it get bad? Don't tell me! (That's a bit of a paraphrase of every conversation re: 24 I've had with my boyfriend this week. "Is she a bad guy? She's a bad guy, isn't she? Don't tell me! Oh, man, that guy's gettin' turfed. I just know it. Isn't he? Wait, don't tell me! Does someone kill Terry? Please tell me someone kills Terry. No! Don't tell me! Ok, you can tell me." If he hadn't just bought a PSP, I think this relationship would be in trouble.) But seriously...it's still a good show, right? No, wait...
I'm not sure. My suspension of disbelief is always challenged by the Rube Goldbergian machinations of the Villain of the Hour who just happens to have contingencies upon contingencies whereas our heroes are dragged through every possible avenue of suffering....
And, as of this last episode, there are considerably fewer of those heroes.
With 24 usually I hit a point where it just gets to be too much and I check out for the rest of the season. I call this the Cougar Barrier.
Despite everything, though, I haven't hit it yet this season. (The Cubs mug is going to be PISSED.)($20 bucks says they already have shots of Important Dead Person 1 and Important Dead Person 2 in their personnel files, marked "deceased," nerve gas attack or no.)
My suspension of disbelief disappears the second they go from point A to point B in the middle of rush hour without seeing a single car, in what would still be half the time needed to go between the two points. That is to say, early on in the first hour of every new season.
Nonetheless, it's fun. Jack sure seems to have gotten over the broken ribs quickly.

I think you should trademark Cougar Barrier, though. That's brilliant, that is.
