Because I know the question was asked at the beginning of the year...from today's Collegian:

A couple from Manhattan, Lori Willems and Dave Spiker, have survived five episodes of the Emmy-winning show “The Amazing Race.” ...

Similarly awesome, from The Onion:

Scheduling Error Leads To First-Ever NCAA Final Five
Bruins Offer Coaching, Front-Office, Playing Position To Ray Bourque

And already meta-ed by [livejournal.com profile] kateshort but still worth pimping: alternate titles for the Basic Instinct sequel via movie-lord [livejournal.com profile] mightygodking (whose review of V for Vendetta as fan of the original is still the gold standard, far as I'm concerned). My favorites include 2 Basic 2 Instinct, Basic Instinct 2: Cooze Control, Basic Instinct 2: The Road Whorrior, Basic Instinct, Part Deux Me....

That's some in depth reporting the Collegian did on Lori and Dave. Did the reporter actually talk to them or just watch Tuesday's show?

It would have been nice - since they couldn't discuss the what happened on the show and where they finished - if the reporter asked questions about how they liked being labeled the "nerd" team, or how Lori's co-workers or Dave's band mates reacted to them disappearing. Perhaps Lori and Dave are not allowed to discuss the show at all?

Then again, perhaps I'm just very cranky today.

Ooh! Thanks for the TAR update. I was *so* happy to be able to see the ep I missed last week, and so happy that the SS Geeklove (as [livejournal.com profile] aardy1 calls their team) has outlasted the pink barbies, the loud sisters, and the annoying guys.

They *really* are not allowed to discuss much of anything. They can sort of talk about an episode after it's aired, but they can't say anything else until after a) they get booted off and go on The Early Show (and even then they can't say certain things), or b) the final episode airs.

There's like a $5 million fine that they'd get if they say the wrong thing. Those contracts have very tight fine print.

That makes a lot of sense.

Does that mean they can't talk about anything at all though? Not even about what they do/did before the show, to show some connection to the Manhattan community other than "Manhattan couple"?

Like I said earlier, I'm probably just being cranky.

We call them Team Nerdluv in our household.

If you can find the episode for download or on tape you should really check it out, very edge of the seat this week.

I like some of those titles, Part Deux Me is my favorite. I heard someone refer to it as Basic Instinct 2: See Me Naked Again.

You might like WuzzaDem's (http://wuzzadem.typepad.com/wuz/2006/03/basic_instinct_.html) take on the movie.

We saw this week live (and were able to catch Germany before seeing this week's ep), and yes, it was a good one!

LOL at Team Nerdluv. :) The hippies are still my faves, but I wouldn't mind Manhappiness getting 2nd.
