Two reviews of X3 from AICN:

Anger. All I feel is anger right now. Honestly, I can’t believe what I’ve just watched. It’s like I fell asleep in the theatre and had a nightmare about what the X-Men movie might turn out to be in the wrong hands.

Instead, it was no dream. What is it? It’s about these X-Men fans who line up on Friday morning to slap down their $8 only to walk into a theatre in which Brett Ratner stands on stage, whips out his piece and pisses on each fan individually. It’s Fox saying “Hey, thanks for helping to make the first two movies hits, fanbase. Now politely fuck off. We’re done with you.” It’s a group of people, who gave us such great cinematic sex with the second film, rolling us over, doing their back end business, then finishing us off with a Dirty Sanchez of an ending. That’s what X-Men: The Last Stand is.

The second:

A friend asked me if I thought it was worth babysitting money for his wife and him to see it this weekend. I asked him if she and he cared about the characters and the story. His wife knew every issue, as did he. I recommended a matinee sometime during the week, next week. To pay to see this – during prime hours… to inflate Fox’s numbers. Frankly, I wouldn’t recommend it.

This was shoddy work as a whole. HOLLYWOOD REPORTER calls this the RETURN OF THE JEDI of the X-MEN saga. To me – it’s closer to ALIEN 3, minus that film’s style and ambition. This isn’t SUPERMAN III bad, it’s just a film that never was given the love and nourishment it needed to be complete or whole. It feels like a twitchy abused child of a film.

This is what I was afraid of. Weekend plans are now fluid. (For the record, I've been spoiled re: the, er, significant character developments for a while, now, but figured that those developments could somehow be redeemed in the telling of the story. No longer holding out for such.)

Also, Lost tonight. Only one spoiler: Sawyer vs. Zeke; specifically, Zeke's beard.

Yeah.

Ever since I saw the first trailer for X3 I've kept my hopes low. The more I see about this movie, the less enthused I get. It's a pity, because the movie posters are fantastic. Had anyone put half as much thought and effort into the movie instead...

I haven't read the spoilers. Largely because the movie has looked so awful.

Oh ack, Sig, I am of the opinion that one should not invoke Alien3 at all, much less lightly. Possibly the only movie I've ever wanted to walk out of after the opening credits.

I don't know any of the spoilers yet, but I'm just presuming that every character I care about dies and/or is marginalized. Sort of like reading the books themselves back in the late 80s and early 90s, come to think of it...

I have to go hide now before I start thinking of a Late Show movie edition...

I've seen a few people throwing around a comparison to Superman III, which I can understand (since Donner essentially directed I and II), but I think it's a lot more apropos to compare it to Alien3, or maybe Batman and Robin -- it's a franchise-killer.

There's a lot of changes, lot of shock value and little drama. Magneto does one thing that is so utterly out-of-character it can't be believed.

But there's still the Danger Room, and there's a young Xavier and Magneto scene which, I hear, is pretty spif.
