Several campus computers have been infected by Breplibot and consequently taken off the network. Apparently the method of infection is via executable e-mail attachments. I don't think I have to lecture my f-list about the inherent dangers of executing attachments, but it seems at least half a dozen people on campus could stand a refresher course.

And yes, it uses technology derived from Sony's rootkit to mask its presence, so give Sony a thank-you note, if you're so inclined.

Yeah, already got an email saying Cardwell got isolated due to the virus. Thankfully, even if it's still offline when I get into work, all I really need to do today involves non-computer stuff. Although if they haven't gotten it fixed before I leave, I'll have to come in on the weekend to put up a file on KSO.

Looks like everything's back up here, yay. Now, if I could just shake the biological virus I've picked up....
