Lore: Summer blockbuster season is winding down, and I think it's a good time to take a look back at the main way in which popular movies influence our lives and our culture: breakfast cereal.

Each summer brings several shiny new boxes of limited-edition cereals -- I love that term, it's as if you're dealing with rare lithographs rather than sugary wads of barely recognizable grain -- and I have taken it upon myself to purchase them, bring them home, drown them in dairy, and muse upon their significance....

Lore's continuing dedication to the field of breakfast cerealology inspires us all.

Or at least it does me.

(Gah, red marshmallow lips, maybe? In a not-very-high-quality cereal that's nevertheless got its fans and in any case is fun to throw at people?)(I wonder what the basic standard for throwability in cereal is. You can't do much with, say, Rice Krispies or Grape Nuts — basically grain confetti. Fun, but not much distance unless you're going straight down from above. Honeycombs, on the other hand — you could probably chunk those mothers at someone.)
