Given how long that sequence probably took to render, I would feel comfortable chalking it up to coincidence. (I always fall back to Rogue when I think of flying humanoids creating sonic booms.)
Speaking of, I really need to sit down and watch that show some day, didn't I? I was convinced it was going to get Fireflied half-way through its first season -- am gratified it has, er, lived long and prospered.
