Yes, I screamed at the TV today.

Watching the Chargers claw back from an absolutely abysmal performance to drive the length of the field with under three minutes left, they tie the game with an absolutely beautiful fade to Antonio Gates in the corner of the end zone. And at that second -- that absolute second that pushes the game from an embarrassment into an overtime thriller -- the television cuts to the Chiefs logo and announces that "due to contractual obligations," both CBS stations will cut away to bring the absolutely thrilling opening seconds of the Chiefs-Broncos game, two team who've combined for a whole nine wins this season and will both have an excellent seat for the playoffs in front of their high-def televisions at home.

Rrrrghghgh. *ptui*

The Bolts came back to win in OT, which has kept me from being an incarnation of divine pigskin fury. But yes, the horror of the network cutaway combined with the unbridled glee of the unexpected Gates touchdown did cause me, for at least three seconds, to lose my tiny mind.

Am consoling myself with watching the KC/Denver game. The few remaining Chefs (three running backs out with injuries, one permanently) aren't making it much of a game, 14-nil after one, but maybe they should just let Tony Gonzales do everything. Except kick, now that they've got John Carney.

Yeah..I'd pretty much be calling CBS personally to bitch. Just flipped through the Chefs game...I can see they haven't done much since then.

Well, it's not as bad as 2000, where the Bolts went 1-15, and the end of their only win was completely cut off for a "special report" that was Katherine Harris validating the result of the election in Florida, be still my heart.

Of course, the Bolts beat the Chiefs.

41-7 Broncs right now. Sorry, Denver's not that good. A team of lawn chairs would be doing better right now.

If it makes you feel better, I was ready to throw something at the TV if I had to watch Chargers/Titans overtime instead of my Perfect Patsies.

Reaction #1: The Chefs picked up Carney?

Reaction #2: Carney's still playing?!

When the game was 17-3, and Beavis from the Titans did both the LT-ball-flip and the Light's Out dance in the end zone, I decided to take a roadie to Fry's to pick up something for my brother, but I kept the game on the radio in my truck, and even brought headphones for in the store.

The first disputed call on the final drive hit while I was in the parking lot. The second came while I was in the store, and my reception went out. I was literally scurrying around the inside of this Hell Warehouse trying to find a spot where I could hear the rest, and darned if I didn't find a scratchy bit of reception just as they called it a catch.

The tying touchdown came as I was walking back out to my truck, and I made it home in time to see the LT-OT dash into the end zone, followed of course by the LT-flip. Which is why, NFL players, you should never mock your opposition's characteristic moves. It might come back to bite you in a big way.
