Bagpipes.

8:25 in the morning. Bagpipes.

I don't have the right meds for this.

What?

Where?

I think you're hearing things.

They waited until 825am? Why, that's downright civil. I can't count the number of times I've been awoken to bagpipes at 630am or earlier. 'Course, the piper was usually beaten to within an inch of his or her life shortly thereafter. Nothing like an early morning execution, I always say.

Nope, right across the hall. For about three minutes.

This might've been what Dr. G meant when he said "You might wanna brace yourself."

Bagpipes? Seriously?

You see, in this state, that's grounds for justifiable homicide. And even if it wasn't, my parole officer would just nod and smile. I can't imagine a jury would convict. Me, I'd help you reload.

If I didn't have my coffee and donuts this morning, I would've picked up my trusty scissors and put the wheezing screaming octopus to sleep.

It's an in-class demonstration of...of something. I don't know what. Someone owes me an explanation. And maybe closed captions for the next two weeks.

Not yet, but the day is young.

Live? (not recorded?) That's a little intense in a classroom setting.

Me? I like bagpipes. But even I would protest if they were right across the hall when I was trying to work...

i think this means your office is FAR too close to the classrooms. ew.

I can't think of a place where early morning bagpipes aren't grounds for justifiable homicide. Scotland, maybe? I think it's regulated even there.

I like bagpipes, but there's a time and place, ya'know what I mean?

One of my team-mates was looping a bagpipe version of some AC/DC song one day in the cubefarm...

Wasn't anything a good pistol-whipping couldn't take care of though :)

Physics/acoustics class???

(and see icon for your captioning :)

From: [identity profile] sigma7.livejournal.com

Oh, wow, so you could hear notes? Actual music? That's a few steps up from this morning, which was sorta an auditory explosion, like a space shuttle liftoff powered by a thousand depressed macaws with laryngitis.

This is not enough coffees.

From: [identity profile] sigma7.livejournal.com

Ha! That was my first guess as to what that could mean. (Yes, I had to look it up. Wish I knew ESL, or that I was halfway good at charades at least.)

Speaking as the guy partly in charge of physics classes here, nope. And usually when a high school program wants to do physics stuff, they ask to do it here in Cardwell, where they can glom onto our demo equipment (except for last week, when asbestos concerns kicked us all out for three days, d'oh).

And if we have bagpipes here, others have wisely kept them well hidden from me....

Who wakes up at 8am anyway

Ew, that sucks =.=

I woke up to my brother asking me where the car keys were and that was enough to annoy me right up until I fell asleep again. But Bagpipes? I would be punching a few people right in the..bagpipes!

Re: Who wakes up at 8am anyway

Heh. Reminds me of one Saturday when I was in high school and Mom woke me up at about 7 to tell me she was going to take my car into town and get it gassed up and I was all like "Okay, whatever, more sleep now kthx" and she walked back in five minutes later and just said "The car's on fire."

There was some kinda short in the dash that was spitting smoke out everywhere, but it wasn't like the car was immolated or anything. The temperature gauge never worked again, the horn quit working until the day of her funeral about four years later, and occasionally, and I'm so not making this up, the odometer would start spinning in reverse about five times the actual rate.

I miss that car.

I mentor a student at the DE School for the Deaf... I thought it was a cute "in joke"...

I was remembering the day in my acoustics class where we disturbed the lecture across the hall because we were doing demonstrations with wind instruments...

Was that the MachPuppy?

BTW, it's a county law, not a state one. You can play bagpipes starting at 7 in Sedgwick County and I think as early as 5:30 in McPherson.

I don't think the phrase "I see what you did there" was ever more appropriate.

Yup, my blessed little puppy. Were you ever on board for one of her odometer quirks? I know Minnich was, because I was all like, "Dude, see, I told you I'm not making this up."
