A long time ago and in a galaxy far, far away - or at least on the other side of Canada, and like six or seven years ago...
I was watching Space, Canada's version of the scifi network. This is how I know it was a while ago, because I haven't watched TV at the very least since I moved to Banff, maybe longer. Regardless, I was watching Space, and in between shows instead of commercials they'd have little blurbs about shiny things in actual space, or interviews with the creators of some of the shows they aired. They were interviewing the guys behind Smallville and they were saying that they went into the show with one rule; "No flights, no tights."
Fast forward to a year or so ago, and one of the DVDs I'm watching the previews on before the actual film is showing an ad for season four or something of the show. And one of the clips is of Clark flying next to an airplane. There was another clip that seems to circumvent the "no tights" "rule" the S symbol was burned into Clark's chest.
It is because of this hypocrisy that even if I was interested in the show, which I'm not, that I won't watch it.
No, the only superheroes that I enjoy are the "real" ones. My two favourites are Batman and the Punisher. Because they're just guys you know. I mean what are their superpowers? Bruce Wayne's superpower is money, and Frank Castle's is guns. I like Wolverine too, but that's different. He's just a bad-ass motherfucker, with the bonus of being the only superhero that I'm aware of who is Canadian.
