That's just as bad as me getting stopped for carrying a nebulizer in my carry on, and my friend having to fight with the security people about carrying her insulin syringes with her on board the plane...

All I can say I was so glad when they made them a separate agency from the FAA. Makes my life so much easier.

Insulin syringes?? Okay, that's over the line. If someone needs their medication on a flight that takes a certain amount of time, fuckin' well let them have it.

The nebulizer as well. Some of us happen to have illnesses and conditions that actually require us to have life-saving medication on hand at all times. Yeesh.

I remember thinking that federalizing the airline security would be a distinct improvement.

I was so very, very wrong.

For me it was that the TSA person had no clue what a nebulizer was, and didn't quite understand when I said I use it to deliver asthma medication... He understood the phrase "medical device" though, and then asked for a supervisor to "approve" that nebulizers were on the "allowed" list (it's scary that they might actually have a list of medical items that they won't let you on a plane with??)... to which a supervisor came over and gave him a "wtf is your problem" look, and waved me through...

My friend had a pair of idiots tell her that she could take the vial of insulin on the plane, but not her syringes... of course, lack of syringes makes the insulin useless, so she was appalled, but these two security folks told her no... she requested a supervisor, who came over and then lectured the two guards about their lack of intelligence to tell a diabetic she couldn't bring her insulin kit on the plane...

In both cases at least the supervisors were intelligent...
