One of my hometown area newspapers is closing down. There goes a possible escape valve.

Today is just one of those days. Even when things go utterly wrong, I do manage to wring some good out of it. One of my list of things to do went horribly wrong, so wrong I think I'm going to forget it ever existed. On the other hand, one of my other projects was flummoxing me -- how to query and retrieve stats on 25-odd columns of a table -- because while there was an easy but tedious and inelegant way to do it (copy-paste, copy-paste...) something told me there was a better way. A gloriously short amount of research into the exciting field of "variable variables" later and voila, it works.

Of course, here, nobody but me cares. But at least I do, and you know, sadly, that's actually saying something.

There are other things to be said for/about work, but not here and not now. At least I don't work for the Raiders. Snicker.
