Anybody want a textbook example of how to go from campus god to campus goat in, charitably, 10 minutes? Meet Ell Roberson. He had a chance to deliver to his team and his university its biggest bowl game victory ever. Now, best case, he'll be tainted, worst case, he's a sexual criminal.
Really. Even if Ell didn't sexually assault the alumna, even if all he did was break curfew, that's still enough to cast a huge shadow of doubt on every aspect of the game tomorrow night. Distractions aplenty for a team which needs none. Even if he plays the game of his life, at very best, he broke the rules, treated his teammates with disrespect and his coaches with contempt. If they lose, even though nobody in purple will say it, there's one person who'll take the blame.
And if he did assault her.... Jesus. How stupid and selfish can one person be? What was wrong with a decent season, a Big 12 championship and a three-year career in the CFL? Took one too many shots to the head in practice, did we?
Official stance: if Ell plays, I hope K-State loses. If Schwinn plays, I hope K-State wins. But let's be serious, I see neither of those scenarios playing out.
