1. Reply to this post with "UNICORNS", and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
(Well, I'm not sure about never-ending, but I'll take my diversions where I can get them.)
This is Tiny Moo, my oldest and roundest cockatiel. Here's a gallery of him and his brethren, and he has his own webcam at TinyMoo.com, which will occasionally be obscured or taken down for...practical purposes.
Where can you see lions? Only in Kenya! Holy crap. Lions!
I can't remember when I first found this cat picture, but it's been ~3-4 years, much longer than this, which is the biggest similar image I can find. There's nothing not to love about this cat; his posture, his eyes, his massive bloated kittytummy are all just so perfect and so human. (And he looks like my cat Ralph from when I was growing up. Actually he looks like three Ralphs stapled together.)
This is a 3D model done by one of my f-list for a then-proposed Invader Zim action figure collection based on the episode "Invasion of the Saucer Morons" (part one, part two, or jump straight to the quote without context here). It's an exercise in hilarity and surrealism and non sequiturs which culminates in the call to action in the icon. Apparently the action figure/accessory was never made (or I can't find any), but there's plenty of merchandising based around that singular pig appearance (I confess, I have a t-shirt)....

I confess I was probably the only person to like (heh) Wendy's "ranch tooth" commercials (first one here, second one here). And it turns out to be probably the best icon possible when blogging about dental-related disasters, of which I have many, obviously. Even with all the work I've had done, I think I still have my ranch tooth.

You do a pretty good job of describing your icons' origins, so I'll just pick my five favorites:

But what the hell, I'll give it a shot...

I think those are the most distinct and disparate of the bunch....

I don't feel like posting my own entry about them, because I am tired and lazy, so I'll explain here. (Also, I keep forgetting how to put icon images on my entries. Blah.)
1. That was completely and totally candid. I was 21 years old, sitting on a log in the woods, staring off into the sunset. Adam grabbed his camera and snapped a photo quickly. It became a favorite among friends.
2. I had started taking Soma as a painkiller/muscle relaxant for the first time, and boy was it making me happy. So I snapped a picture of just how happy I was. My friends adore this picture. It's the only personal one where I'm really grinning at the camera.
3. My wedding day, obviously. This was a professional shot. The photographer asked me to place the bouquet that way, and for Adam and me to gaze at each other lovingly while touching each other's faces. We were so lost in the moment that we didn't care about anything.
4. I was eighteen. My godmother snapped a picture of me staring at a tree leaf in her front yard. It was the first photo I ever sent to Adam during our courtship. He decided to play with it in Photoshop, and superimposed the fox image over it. I was quite pleased.
5. This was taken last week, the day after my hair salon experience. I was taking pictures of myself in the bathroom, and when I took this one I wasn't really paying attention, just, like, "whatever." I'm impressed by how well it came out.
You know, I think I will copy this into an entry. What the hell.

Pig!
I just looked but I'm pretty sure I got rid of it in a purge of "stuff that, however adorable and weird, is just taking up precious storage space" a few years go. Now I wish I'd kept it, 'cause I'd have given it away if I'd known someone to give it to.
Oh wait, here it is for $150, which really, REALLY makes me wish I'd kept it. Not that mine was pristine & in the box, but jesus. http://www.toywiz.com/invaderzimgirfigure.html
