I will stop looking at TheFetus.net. I will not look up any more congenital ichthyosis-related articles. They burn my eyes and break my heart. I was prepared for grotesque details. I was not prepared for an imbedded video clip filmed via camcorder with the word "congratulations" unfortunately captioned in the bottom-right corner. Ungh.

On the less-tragic side, there's uncombable hair syndrome. Unfortunate, perhaps, but survivable.

And for [livejournal.com profile] beeform, 'cause she asked: the Credit Card Prank. Is anyone paying attention to how you sign your receipts?

Edit: Fixed link as per [livejournal.com profile] opheliasclone's comment becuz I m dum. Y'all're just lucky that wasn't accidentally one of the medical sites I frequent. *shudder*

I think you have a link issue. I clicked on 'Credit Card Prank' and got a picture of uncombable hair. Well, it made for an amusing moment anyway. :-)

I dunno if it was that the uncombable hair was that indelible or perhaps I just have a clipboard issue. Perhaps the two.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm really operating on a bank-holiday schedule today. Aie.

Actually, I did enjoy the signature prank.

On a side note, I did once witness a clerk (at a computer store where I worked) reprimand someone for a angry scribble that took 30 seconds to create. It looked just like the second example on the second page of the prank site.

Anyway, the guy stomped up and down and caused a fuss. All the clerk wanted to do was print out a new signature and have the guy sign it like a human being. The guy claimed he always signed that way, and anything else wasn't his signature.

In the end, the smart*ss went home without a computer.

It was an ugly scene, which is why most clerks don't even bother. In the end, it isn't the clerk's job to prevent theft. It's the credit card holder's job to check their statements and call in anything untoward. As long as there is a difference between their usual signature, the credit card company will issue a refund.

Obviously, the current system encourages fraud by the card holder.

Fifteen years?

Hell, the Madden franchise is barely fifteen years old. And I actually bought the first version. It's a tad different from the most recent version, lemme tell you. I guess they're being forward-thinkers, but...gyuh.
