So at home yesterday, leaving my room, I managed to twist my left ankle something fierce. Foot had fallen asleep, and it just rolled over when I put it down. I'm sure I scared the birds by yelling as loud as I did. Apparently I also left an impression on Moosie, whose left foot is swollen, and she's favoring it to the point of trying hard not to put weight on it. Cue emergency trip to the vet. Doc gave her some pain meds, and -- worse -- recommended she be put in her own cage for a week or so.

Moosie's okay with this. Tiny, on the other hand, has lost his tiny little mind. He was screaming from the moment Moosie left to the moment she reappeared, and he spends every moment on the left side of the cage, trying to figure out how to weasel his way into Moosie's new digs. He's a very unhappy little bird.

Moosie seems to be okay, eating and chirping and whistling and was just so well-behaved for the docs (unlike another cockatiel I could name). This will not be an easy week for him. Every single moment he's trying to get to Moosie. I'm sure that's what he'll be dreaming about for the next week. Next Friday will be Christmas for him.

Oh, and we got about a foot and a half total of snow. And more today. Uhm, enough already.

Re: National journo bling-bling

Topeka made national news? Whoa. I knew the Weather Channel dude came through and seemed somewhat disappointed when round 1 of the storm kinda petered out 'round capital-city way. It's much worse in Manhappiness.

And this is fantastic. Instead of my usual T-W-Th days/F-Sat nights, I needed Friday night off, swapped Tuesday and Friday with JB, took Wednesday off (so's I wouldn't be half-asleep at work), and it worked out perfect:

Sunday: storm
Monday: more storm, KSU actually cancelled classes (!)
Tuesday: plow, plow, plow, update goes fine
Wednesday: cold
Thursday: more more storm, work from home
Friday: annoyance snow

Only problem is the plow's been down the street and there's a snowwall in front of the driveway, so entry/egress from the driveway requires pounding on the gas. That's picturesque....

And how's the horrible horrible weather in sunny Fla?
