A love scene from the canceled TV show "Angel" that showed a female character turning into a vampire and biting her partner's neck did not overstep federal indecency rules, the Federal Communications Commission ruled Friday.

It was one of two scenes from a November 2003 episode of "Angel" that were not "sufficiently graphic or explicit to render the program patently offensive" by contemporary standards, the FCC said in denying an indecency complaint from the Parents Television Council.

Specifics: The complaint involved a scene in the Nov. 19, 2003, broadcast in which a couple are apparently having sex. PTC described it this way: "Spike is on top of Harmony, their clothes are on, but his body rocks back and forth and their breathing is heavy. She tries to speak, but he tells her not to spoil the moment. Her eyes start to bleed, and suddenly she turns into her vampire self and bites his neck."

Of course, the most offensive aspect of "Angel" was its cancellation, but that's just me. Well, that, and the Cordy storyline in season 4. Gah.

I never really liked Angel... Rooted for Spike too much. ^^

Spike was my favorite part of the Buffyverse for me. Funny how little I actually liked the title characters in both of their series. That said, I still can't watch the almost-rape scene. Shudder.

Season 5 was tough to watch again. Not because it sucked; it didn't. Because I didn't want to see Cordy and Fred dying again.

$40 was still worth to have my own permanent copy of "Smile Time," though.

I haven't gotten the last three seasons of Buffy or the last two of Angel, though I imagine I will eventually. I forgot how much I liked Smile Time. Is there a commentary?

And any loss for the PTC (who I assume are the only morons who would actually watch the show just so they could complain about it) is a win for the rest of the world.

With the PTC being responsible for 99.8% of FCC complaints, were I the FCC webmaster, I'd just start blocking some IP addresses after a while. Surely our tax dollars have a better use.

And Simle Time is probably the best Angel ep ever, puppet cancer or no. Complete with David Fury goodness.
