There's a reason I've not been citing coverage from the Kansas City Scar. Most news outlets have stopped referring to Carmin as "Carmin Ross-Murray," preferring simply "Carmin Ross," possibly for clarity's sake, possibly as part of a pro-conviction bent (Lawrence started using it first, in November of 2003, but also, interestingly, changed style only post-mortem -- Topeka finally followed suit in February of this year, well into the trial). I figure either is allowable, though the timing of the change is...a curious decision, in both cases.
Still, I see either as correct, but the Scar just gets it wrong.
Ross and Murray, a linguistics professor at Kansas State University who lived in Manhattan, were sharing custody of their daughter. The couple had divorced several months earlier.
According to previous testimony, Murray was engaged to another man and was talking of moving to California with him.
Sorry. Wrong ex-spouse.
