A newly discovered fragment of the oldest surviving copy of the New Testament indicates that, as far as the Antichrist goes, theologians, scholars, heavy metal groups, and television evangelists have got the wrong number. Instead of 666, it's actually the far less ominous 616.

As long as we can agree that there are no sevens.

Just remember, the mainstream Marvel Universe Earth is Earth-616.

Given that number by Alan Moore, who I'd certainly think would be up on the possibilities with respect to this info.

That was what brought it to the attention of someone on scans_daily -- which earned the perfect retort from gamoid: "Pfft, that is such a retcon."

And yeah, I can see Moore knowing that full well when writing it, and knowing it'd sail right under Marvel's collective radar (like Gaiman and Constantine's language in "Books of Magic"). There's not much I'd put outside the realm of Moore's possible knowledge....
