Our long-distance national nightmare is over, Bee's got the phone workin' 'gain. Many thanks to missmiah for getting a hold of Jane't, who told us what the Alltel customer service rep didn't -- though the manual says that the default password for unlocking the phone is 9999, in our case, it was the last four digits of our phone number. D'oh.

And thunderstorms approach. Pigs have new seed. Watched "Akira" and was quite disappointed versus the original text. Hrm.

Self-fulfilling journalism

Some intersections in Kansas are more dangerous than others -- one, in particular, near Maize, has seen more than its share of accidents lately, and Wichita's channel 12, KWCH, decided to do a live report from the intersection to illustrate the point. Which never made much sense to me. I mean, what're the odds that there'll actually be an accident while you're on camera, or even while out there?
