Okay, maybe the sky's not falling yet, but forgive me for not being as giddy as Brad. Hard to be optimistic when LJ is being coy and the site's being sold to the people responsible for screwing up Moveable Type. And it's not like a herd of blogs disappearing instantly without warning would be unprecedented.

File under schaudenfreude: Bill Gates' CES demo crashes hard. Hee. You can watch it here, but I've seen enough BSODs lately, thankyew.

NEW YORK -- Drew Brees went from forgotten man to one of the NFL's best quarterbacks this season, a turnaround that resulted in him being named The Associated Press 2004 Comeback Player of the Year.

..."I just think it will be very satisfying to him considering the situation that he was in at the end of last season," said backup quarterback Doug Flutie, who won the first AP Comeback Player award in 1998. "Redemption, a feeling of accomplishment, all that. Just that it's showing a lot of resolve and bouncing back up off the floor and taking the shots and jumping back in and going after it."
You probably missed Derek Kieper's seat-belt laws column:

I’m from the school of thought where everyone should have the right to do as they please as long as they are not infringing on the rights of other people. This comes from the political philosophy that inspired our founders and freedoms.

...No law, or set of laws, has made the government more intrusive and ridiculous than seat belt legislation. Nothing is a bigger affront to the ideas of freedom, liberty, yada, yada, yada. Whether you are a pinko liberal or a right-wing whack job, there are plenty of reasons for just saying to hell with seat belt laws.

...Telling me to wear my seat belt is the same as making sure I have some sort of proper education before diving into a swimming pool. If I want to dive in without knowing how to swim, that is my right. And if I want to be the jerk that flirts with death and rides around with my seat belt off, I should be able to do that, too.
