I know what I said, but sweet zombie pastalord.
FEMA is directing Katrina donations to none other than the Rev. Pat Robertson.
Millions of Americans and people around the world have rushed to donate money to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which is shaping up to be one of the worst U.S. disasters in history, if not the worst.
FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is the lead federal agency in the rescue & recovery operation at work in New Orleans and the Mississippi gulf coast.
FEMA has released to the media and on its Web site a list of suggested charities to help the storm’s hundreds of thousands of victims. The Red Cross is first on the list.
The Rev. Pat Robertson’s “Operation Blessing” is next on the list.
You can't make this shit up.
Also, FEMA chief blames the victims. I think I'll take a handful of meds now.

Er, so?
I fail to see the problem. OB is, as far as I can tell, a humanitarian organization founded by Pat Robertson, not a ministry effort. They've been registered with FEMA for some time.
It's a bit premature to conclude Robertson is personally funnelling money from the Katrina relief effort to fund his own enterprises, just because he's in the hotseat (justifiably so, IMO) over the whole Chavez thing.

http://www.ob.org/ (Operation Blessing, which is Pat Robertson's charity group. Has used planes (that were marketed as aid planes for Zairian refugees) to transport equipment for his own mining ops: http://www.au.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=5489&abbr=cs_ and http://www.dkosopedia.com/index.php/Operation_Blessing_International have further info; promoted by AFA)
It also doesn't help that Pat's usual MO is to blame the victims of things of this nature, saying it was brought about because of their sin. Considering New Orlean's wild Mardi Gras, I'm actually quite astonished he hasn't gone out on that branch yet, but I guess he's not willing after the recent Chavez fallout.
Also, I would guess Sigma's consternation is in part due to their shared histories. It's hard for me to believe Robertson can do anything without evangelizing, and the Bush administration has probably been the most religiously motivated administration in U.S. history. Am I really supposed to believe Operation Blessing is the second most qualified relief organization in the country?
