One day after President Bush vowed to reduce America's dependence on Middle East oil by cutting imports from there 75 percent by 2025, his energy secretary and national economic adviser said Wednesday that the president didn't mean it literally.

Oh, that's brilliant. Either the team's not all on the same page -- which is more than likely -- or your administration's premiere address to the people is undermined as empty imagery in under 24 hours.

This is what I was wondering. On the other hand, I can see how it would be possible to use less specific terms and claim you were rounding up (ex., 1/2 rounded up from 4/11 or something), but this is far from that. My main gripe with Bush remains that he doesn't seem to be able to utilize his own native language properly. Since he's the leader of our country, that makes us look extremely bad, especially combined with his horrible policy on education. I mean, fuck effective communication, right guys?
