Oh, I should've stocked up on pain meds before leaving the house. I somehow managed to pull something in my side, and now my right arm triggers an arc of pain if I try to raise it. Or if I lean to the left. Or if I turn my head too far. To say nothing of the quivering mass my digestive system randomly degenerates into as evidenced by kicking it last night at Panera with [livejournal.com profile] beeform and [livejournal.com profile] erica_roo. Still, broccoli-cheese soop was güd.

Okay, I'm officially addicted to women's curling. Sure, it's not the most exciting sport in the world, and I'm still learning the finer points of the game (actually, it's a lot less interesting when it makes sense), but it helps that the American team is so photogenic. And it's entertaining to listen to foreign teams shouting their commands.... There's just something so intriguing and amusing in the unfamiliarity of it. I'm hesitant to study any more. Mysteries linger, but answers get decode into raw information and slip from the memory.

Just on a lark I looked up the old Atari Swordquest contest of the early '80s, just to see what happened to the $25K prizes. Sad, but not surprised to see that the talisman had been melted down to pay for school, but glad the chalice is still intact. And I've stayed at the hotel where they had the contest. Cool.

Also, the hieroglyphics from Lost: an explanation?

Well, it's definitely soup weather. They've got potato leek and chili at the Union. The chili's dependable if not extravagant, but I can't attest to the taterleek.

I discovered women's curling at the Olympics and for the same reason. At that time I think it was the Canadians who had the really pretty women.

Haven't watch any of the Olympics this year. Partly because of NBC's refusal to call the site Turin, not Turino, and mostly because of school work. I'm waiting for the Peking Olympics to begin the countdown to the end of Communist China, sometime in 2017.

I LOVE curling.

I aspire to curl someday - Seattle actually has a dedicated curling rink, so I can. It's very soothing.

Rent Men With Brooms. It explains the game pretty well, in addition to being a nice Sunday afternoon movie.

I'm finally getting something out of having cable; I get CBC coverage, which is FAR more comprehensive and has events on live.

Saw Men With Brooms on TV a few weeks ago. Leslie Nielsen, how we love thee.

But saw this, thought of you....
