Dana Reeve (widow of Christopher Reeve, actress) and Kirby Puckett (Minnesota Twin, Hall-of-Famer) never would've been mentioned in the same sentence except for the fact that they died within a day of each other in their mid-40s. Disquieting.

The picture that made me a Jake Gyllenhaal fan. I think it's the eyebrows.

Is it sad that, despite my affection for the first two movies, I don't like the X-Men 3 trailer much at all? Despite it being the last movie in the series and being spoiled as to some of its more pivotal events (which will be pretty obvious if you linger on some of the frames in the trailer), I had high hopes. And Kelsey seems to be doing the Beast proud, which surprises me, kinda -- he's actually the most intriguing element this go-around in my eyes. But still -- Brett Ratner? Okay, he's not Uwe Boll, but he's no Bryan Singer, either (not that I'm impressed with the Superman Returns script either -- Lois Lane returning with another man's child makes the whole formula unnecessarily complicated and dangerous).

Honestly, I got more wrapped up in 24 than I did in the X-Men trailer. At least there are plenty of job openings at CTU for IT professionals. Has anyone noticed that you have better odds of surviving the 24-hour day simply by leaving the CTU building? Seriously, just step outside. If Jack Bauer shows up, it's time to work from home.

And a visual coda to yesterday's hubbub:

Sean Astin could have his own series as he gets shipped from bureau to bureau and the population mysteriously dwindles all day as he remains either clueless or in custody (or both)....

And someone else assumes room temperature next week -- and it didn't sound like Chloe was out of the woods, yet. Eek.
