Here's a cut-n-paste from one year ago, which is in effect this year, too:

As prompted by the wise and delightful [livejournal.com profile] reynardine's declaration to sit out tomorrow on the Internet sidelines (which I fully empathize with), I have declared my LJ and my posts an April-Fools'-Free-Zone. No misleading, no "jokes" nor pranks nor outright lies. At least, no more than usual. I'm just not amused by the countless hoaxes and deceptions that seem to have abandoned the humor and the mirth of the day. So I'm not playing this year.

April 1, 2006: Business as usual

<!--insert starts--><table width="1" border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="3" align="center"><tr><td align="center"><img src="http://www.ourtownusa.com/~sigma7/nojoke.jpg" title="No joke: You are entering an April-Fools'-Free Zone"  align="Center"><br><b><a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/sigma7/146544.html">April 1, 2006: Business as usual</a></b></td></tr></table><!--insert ends-->

Enjoy.

Yep. Already have my annual notice up on my Transformers sightings page, that I will be ignoring any "first sightings" reports today through Sunday (timezones mean some people are already pranking, and others will still be going well into Sunday).

Online AFPs are either cruel, or lame, or both. Sturgeon's Law applies in spades.

Every once in a while they're cute/amusing. Slashdot, at the moment, is...amusing, if visually violent (or is that just vile?). And I liked Fark getting hacked by the pigs. But most of them are just...tedious.

(I was disappointed to find that April 1 fell on a Saturday this year; I really wanted to do something...entertaining in the department's computing labs. Feh.)

I am right there with you on hating the cruelty of April Fool's Pranks.

Ditto on the Saturday aspect. I had a really great idea for work, but it, well, doesn't work if no one's around.

[Short version; due to crowding, there've been increasing complaints about people reserving tables in the cafe during prime hours and not showing up for a half hour or more after their reservation start time. I came up with the idea of reserving every single table, each under a different fake group, for the entire lunch period...but then I realized that this just don't work on Saturdays...]

If the cafe is open on Saturday, you could always reserve it completely at a dead time, with big signs on all the tables, and take pictures.

I personally think Google's gag is cute. (http://www.google.com/romance/)
