Last night, bliss. A Kornheiser-free Monday Night Football left-coast edition. Watched the first half with the birds, who'd been screaming for attention -- took them out and they immediately picked a spot and camped out. Tiny Moo, right shoulder. Moosie, left knee. Muffin, stomach. Biscuit, left collarbone. Each got progressively more content and poofed out his feathers and just relaxed with Daddy. At least, for the first quarter. In the second quarter the older boys started scampering about the carpet while Biscuit stayed in place, making his content chewing-on-rocks sound.

Sadly, we only made it through the first half before birdie-nigh-night time, but when I get home, the second half will be DVD-burny-ready, and we'll have boys' night out again.

Of course, a 27-0 win over the Raiders helps. No "woo we're in first in the AFC West" yet, though.

Mmm, Raiders go squish. I missed pretty much the whole game due to rehearsal, but caught the tail end of the radio broadcast while driving home. Poor Raiders, getting pushed out of bounds on the one with no time left on the clock.

Then they read the defensive statistics, and I gaped accordingly.

Several years back (I think 1998?), when the Bolts had that ridiculous week-one bye, I seem to recall all the other teams in the division losing, and Rich Eisen making the sarcastic observation that San Diego was now in first place in the AFC West. Um, yeah, great.
