WFAA-TV in Dallas is reporting that Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens attempted to commit suicide Tuesday night.

I'm personally more willing to believe he accidentally ODed on painkillers, myself, but this is...intriguing.

According to the reports, this is more and a whoops. :)

But, painkillers do funny things. It's way possible that this was caused by an adverse reaction to the meds. Some folks don't react well to painkillers and can get depressed.

As much as I hate TO- I really, really hope he feels better. That kind of black depression is no fun.

This just goes to show how over T.O. we are here in Philly... this story hasn't cracked any of the Delaware Valley news sites yet....

*wow*

Considering the depth of the acrimony, I'm surprised the headline isn't something like "HA HA HAAA HAAA HAAAA (breathe) BWAAAA HAAA HA HAAA"

When they finally break the story, I don't doubt that it will be among the common reactions...

My first thought was "Oh, crap, what are Philly fans gonna do next time he plays a game here?" and immediately imagined the field being pelted with empty prescription bottles.
We throw batteries. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

It's awful, but the reliability of Philly sports fans to be heartless bastards to the opposing team (or -worse - former Philly athletes, or those who turned down a chance to be Philly athletes) kinda gives me the warm fuzzies. It's a constant in a turvy-topsy world.

Also, I likes yer icon. I always think William Penn looks kinda like a pirate guardin' the city at night. (That, and from the side it looks like he's...*really* happy to do the job.)

I'm told that the sculptor got cheated out of some of the money owed him for the completed piece... the original design was to have Billy Penn holding the charter aloft in triumph... but the sculptor changed the positioning...

...so that from a particular angle in the city, it looks as if Penn is pissing on City Hall...

Don't know if you listen to 1230 AM, but apparently the local sports guys kept saying "Owens denied committing suicide." Even after he was corrected.

If you commit suicide, it's kind of tough to deny it.

Coming from a person who attempted suicide herself... uhh... Doh!

Oy Vey...

I am SO GLAD I didn't draft him. He's too much drama, not enough football.

Even my boyfriend - who famously declared that his goald for this season was for Brian Dawkins to give T.O. a career ending injury *on* the Cowboys' star *in* Dallas, an injury that would result in Mr. Owens walking with a limp for the rest of his life - announced this as "kinda sad." I guess that's not how he wants him to go out.
Personally, I'd rather his eel of a manager take the easy way out, but that's just me. I hope T.O. gets better, apologizes to McNabb, and becomes a Hare Krishna.

That's it. I officially retire from fantasy football. If anybody else had him, he'd be leading the league in touchdowns. I draft him and he breaks his hand and then tries to do himself in.

What I want to know is who leaked the Mexicans' lineup to him....

Hey, I would just like to see an end to Chargers getting shot, arrested, or both. Or getting killed in plane crashes. That sucks. Or being Ryan Leaf. That's worse than a plane crash.
