It's just such a relief to work on a computer and not have to worry about Parallels, Exchange Server, or Remote Desktop. So I've been unwinding by playing the Sims, and specifically in recreating two families: The Utonium family and the Mythbusters family.

So in the upper-scale place in downtown Pleasantville there's a rich man, Professor, and his three girls: Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. On the other side of town are the five Mythbusters roomies: Jamie, Adam, Grant, Kari and Tori. (Bother: can't make Jamie both bald and beret'd. And the randomly-assigned sleepwear for Kari is, er, frightening.) Turns out that both Professor and Jamie have similar ambitions: home businesses. The Prof, in addition to buying a club downtown, begins making toy robots, Buttercup contributes some daisies, and they start selling them at home. One of the first visitors is, indeed, Jamie Mythbuster, and when I divert my focus for just a second, Professor Utonium is furious with Jamie.

So Utoniums/Mythbusters might just be the new Hatfields/McCoys, if I can just get the damned game to stop crashing on me. My attempts at adding custom music seem to be fatal to the game's execution. I just want to listen to "Supper's Ready" while customizing a family. Amazingly enough, my first attempt to make a custom TV channel worked effortlessly; the Sims will now see "Porkchop Sandwiches" if they watch the cartoon channel. This is as it should be.

I don't know if I want to bother with Seasons or not. Sure, there's the whole Plantlife thing, but I really shouldn't have installed Pets. If it weren't for the "No Pets Allowed" paintings, I'd have gone nuts from the strays, not to mention the skunks....

Seasons has advantages you can get from having gardens, though. Like potion type advantages.

But thanks for the "no pets allowed" tip; I hadn't realized one of those was in there. I can lower the strayness.

I wonder, now, if there's a way to de-scent a skunk.

I downloaded it from...er, somewhere. Can't quite remember where. A cursory glance over MATY and the wiki doesn't enlighten me either. I'll investigate in the game. I need to rebuild Utonium's club; had to trash it, as it was crashing me game.
