Of all the time I've been using Gmail, it finally bit me on the ass:

This account has been locked down due to unusual account activity. It may take up to 24 hours for you to regain access.

Unusual account activity includes, but is not limited to:

1. Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP in a short period of time.
2. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back).
3. Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account.
4. Leaving multiple instances of your Gmail account open.
5. Browser-related issues. Please note that if you find your browser continually reloading while attempting to access your Inbox, it’s probably a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser’s cache and cookies.

If you feel that you have been using your Gmail account according to the Gmail Terms of Use, you can troubleshoot your problem by clicking here.

And before you ask: no, no, no and no. I was trying to figure out why our e-mail lists weren't working and it looks like I won't be able to.

Up to this moment I hadn't one bad thing to say about Gmail. I'm...deeply disillusioned right now.

Edit: Left feedback, account reactivated minutes later. Excellent response time. Fully reillusioned.

Re-edit: Locked out again. Gyuh.

Sorry, still in Japan for another 2 weeks, so can't do anything.

S'okay. It's back up, but I'm just baffled by its recurrence and that there are four or five dissimilar conditions that all lead to the exact same error state with no feedback as to which condition triggered it. Using a GDrive extension? Too many sent e-mails bounce? Logged in simultaneously? (This one is the one I'd really like to know about; it has me worried that I'm logged in somewhere else that I've somehow forgotten. Dread.)

Also, YAY for new account and icon!

I seriously can't wait to switch to GMail. The Webmail servers are so unreliable just...crap...that it's annoying.

Until today I was 100% sold on Gmail. It's only dropped to about 99.4% -- and I'm positive it's got to be better than our current system. Campus IT partnering with Google is one of the better ideas of our lifetime. It's like the parking garage, but the complete opposite.
