Not to rain on your parade because I'm sure you posted this with good intentions, but I would hazard a guess that the squirrel was either sick or very injured. The running in circles suggests to me that his right leg might have been broken and he was really trying very hard to get away, not to entertain. Or, if he's a city squirrel, he likely found and ate something he shouldn't have from someone's garbage. I've seen injured and ill wild animals in the past, and one shouldn't really get that close to them. But maybe I'm just a little sensitive since I've overheard various conversations at work about hunting and what animals make "good eatin'".
The possibility had crossed my mind that he was injured, but I read -- somewhere along the papertrail that led me to that clip -- assurances that said squirrel was fine the next day. Believe me, I'm fond of the little shadowtails, and if I thought he was injured, I would not be amused at all.

(On the opposite side of the spectrum, did you see this unfortunate headline?)

No, no, NO.
And I'm sure at some point the headline-writer was told to look at it again and the light when on and there was extreme embarrassment and distress.
