I checked it out in the print version and, no, not a parody. If it were, it would be amusing. As it is, it's just...depressing.
There was a time when they would do the "clash of the columnists," the artificial conflict where they make columnists take opposing viewpoints on a particular topic and occasionally the editors would inflict stances on writers who didn't necessarily hold that stance. It was undeniably idiotic. I wish I could be surprised that (a) it's one of the few pieces of the Collegian legacy it retains and (b) it's now migrated to the "Edge" (the oh-so-precious name for the arts & entertainment section)....
