EA has released a patch for The Sims 2: Free Time, the seventh (!) of its expansion packs (not including "stuff packs") for its quasi-social simulator. Unfortunately, whether it's my machine or the raw bloat of the content, it now takes more time to start up than I end up actually playing it, so I really don't play anymore.

However, the patch entertains in its own way. Here are some of the (many) actual fixes the patch addresses:

  • Sims will now remember which side of the bed is theirs to sleep on.

  • Vampire Sim can no longer receive a Want to turn Bigfoot into a Vampire.

  • Sims will no longer gain fishing skill points while digging for treasure.

  • Pregnant Sims can now browse or blog about hobbies on the computer.

  • Vacation guest who is asked to Join a Sim in a tent will now properly leave the tent after an appropriate amount of time.

  • Children will no longer pop when drinking Hot Chocolate.

I ended up removing the Sims 2 from the computer somewhere around Seasons. I still want to get all the packs and stuff things after that, but considering the frame rate and other issues that were popping up whatever the EP before Seasons was I decided it would be best to wait until Sims 3 hits the shelves and just buy a new computer at that point. Something that will run all of Sims 2 and might have a shot at making Sims 3 play for a bit.

Until then, I've got old school Sims (Which I sort of prefer at the moment, simply because it works!) and all the Sims titles for the Wii to keep me from going through withdrawls.

"Children will no longer pop when drinking Hot Chocolate."

That made my friggin' day. The seven years I have to wait for new Lost will be made bearable by thinking of the meetings for *all the previous patches* in which someone said "Should we fix the hot chocolate-child murder thing?" and got shouted down.
