The PrettyBirds have clawed their way out of the near-cellar and are now happily perched at #4 in the current Nuffle standings, with four teams lodged at 3-2, and only one team (Dairyland Cheeseheads) with a better record (4-1). This week wasn't too frightening -- the Birds waxed the Sedgwick County Komodo Dragons behind the usual tandem of Peyton Manning (24 pts) and LaDainian Tomlinson (18 pts and he still sat down early).
For me, though, the surprise of the week came when the Costa Rica Ticos didn't swap out their players in time for the week's game and they went into the week with three of their 12 players on a bye (Priest Holmes, Tony Gonzales and Eddie Kennison all stayed home). And until Monday night, it looked like Costa Rica was headed for one of those face-palm moments, until Donald Driver chipped in 13 points in a losing cause for Green Bay -- but little did DD know that those points would propel the Ticos to an 81-74 win over the Honolulu Harem. Wow. A quarter of your team stays home and you still win -- that's depth.
The 'Birds are one game (and 167 points, urk) out of first place....
1 DairylandCheeseheads: 4-1-0 667.00
2 Dayton Raptors: 3-2-0 554.00
3 aircap aviators: 3-2-0 503.00
4 ManhattanPrettyBirds: 3-2-0 500.00
5 Costa Rica Ticos: 3-2-0 499.00
6 Hutch JayDogs: 2-3-0 588.00
7 Honolulu Harem: 1-4-0 483.50
8 SC Komodo Dragons: 1-4-0 479.00
And now Muffin is on my neck, content and napping after eating a snack of millet and pumpkin seeds. Life is good.

I suk.
But for now, I'm in 5th place. If the playoffs started today, I'd be out. Maybe we should switch to powder blue uniforms.

Re: I suk.
Hey, the powder-blues were the kiss of death until this weekend. I'm just glad that the Bolts have almost hit their win mark of last season already.
I almost wish K-State had a football team so I could follow their exploits this season. Eh, maybe in a few years the administration will see how beneficial an athletic program like that could be.
