Best part about the weather so far? Campus being closed 45 minutes early the last day before a three-day weekend. Me likey. Being trapped at home seems to be a perfectly acceptable way to spend a weekend. Biscuit barks his agreement.
Why did campus close down? I went on campus for my 10:30, came back to the dorm and fell asleep until 3:30. It was glorious. It was one of those stay in your PJ's under the covers with a good book kinda days...
I think it was more of a travel-safety issue than anything else, wanting people to get home before the roads got any worse. It was just chilly and a tad slick on campus, but certainly not crippling. (And the long weekend certainly helped.) I think the forecasts the administration was seeing were pretty dire -- and overly pessimistic, as it doesn't seem to be too bad at all out there.
They generally close campus when Facilities does not have enough staff, resources or time to make ALL the walkways on campus safe for students (and faculty/staff).
