This Tuesday will see the release of Firefox 1.0. If you haven't given this browser a try, there's no better time (unless you're using Mac OS 9.x, in which case, ah feel yuir pain).

Give it a try, and you will believe.

And this weekend I've abandoned Eudora, which I've used ever since I got my first PC, for Thunderbird. It's about as painless a transition to go from Eudora to Thunderbird as you can imagine. And if you're still using Outlook Express, stop doing so right now. I feel the same way about IE, but less vehemently. There's just too many security holes and exploits that go unfixed for too long to tolerate them.

And on this, I agree with the Department of Homeland Security.

But they're just cool apps regardless. Give'm a shot and lemme know what you think.

Firefox is great! Being a Linux user, my options were limited from the beginning. Then Mozilla started taking off and it slowly replaced Netscape 4.7 as my default browser. Then Firebird came out. It was based on Mozilla, but without the bloat. Awesome program. Name disputed came and went (Phoenix) and now Firefox is on the scene. My default browser. Love it. I DO believe!

I think my favorite extension is Firesomething, which acknowledges the whole Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox issue and lets you randomize the name that appears in the titlebar. F'r instance, right now, my two browser windows are named Mozilla Superquail and Mozilla Moonbug....

I'm just glad I don't have to think in Russian to use the browser.
