When we last tuned in, Texas leapfrogged Cal to get a BCS bowl bid, in part due to Mack Brown begging the media like a five-year-old for votes. This lead the Charlotte Observer to an unusual stand: they would no longer participate in the AP poll as long as it was tied to the BCS.

I'm stunned but pleased by the latest turn of the gears:

Apparent concern over the Bowl Championship Series process has led The Associated Press to pull its football poll from the BCS system used to select the national title game participants and those in the three other BCS bowls, according to reports.

Die, BCS, die.

Note that Brown was coach at North Carolina-Chapel Hill prior to moving to Texas. Let's just say the Observer had a fair amount of knowledge about him.

And if Brown wanted in a BCS game so badly, there was a very simple way to do it. Actually beat Oklahoma for once.
