This week, "24" gives me most of what I've been waiting for this season, and that's all I'm gonna say....

Okay, maybe a little more. Someone takes a bullet. Someone gets sent home. Someone gets some long-due props. And two someones come to Jack's aid in an interesting turn of events.

If only next week looked to be more promising....

Really? I was thinking "jumped the shark" and I've loved this season so far.

Complaint one: The proper reply is "You want me to kill a federal agent?" from any sane person is "No, no thank you. If you give me $100,000 right now, I won't ever come forward to tell the authorities you asked me to commit a capital offense."

Second, was there any looting when the lights went out last year in New York? I thought not. I find it hard to believe a riot broke out -- and apparently disbanded, from the lack of people in the streets -- in the 10-15 minutes between the EMP going off and Jack getting to the shootout site.

I also find it fairly hard to believe that they don't immediately secure the scene of a shootout like that, preventing the final happening. I'll keep watching, but I thought this ep was completely ludicrous.

Haven't watched the ep yet -- still on tape -- but just based on what stuff happened (Sarah, Paul, store owners, Tony) the plot made me very happy. Though it sounds like the execution's lacking.

I'd argue post-9/11 that New York has something of a peculiar metropolitan psychology about it now. I don't think it's necessarily unique, but I think it's enough to distinguish it from many cities. Some urban areas (and college towns, even) are just more prone to violence for awful reasons (sporting events, even). I'm not saying LA is one of 'em, but it did occur to me.
